In this Episode of Dank’s Strain Reviews: Quinn tries out “Moby Dick” by Dragon High.
About Dank’s Strain Reviews
If this is your first time watching one of our Strain Reviews, we’d like to give a brief introduction, a walkthrough, of some of the terms we use and why we rate the way we do.
Jeff and the other budtenders at Dank’s Wonder Emporium use a “Star Rating” System to determine the quality of each feature of each product. These features include but are not limited to: the packaging, the product structure (if applicable), the “nose” (the aroma of the product), the flavor, the smoothness or harshness, the effects, and the overall score of the product.
We also like to review the lab test results of the product, the price point, the genetics of the strain (if applicable) and share any infomation we have about the brand.
We do not have information on Dragon High’s “Moby Dick”, but this strain usually tests around 20% THC.
Dragon High’s “Moby Dick” sells for anywhere between $10-11 per gram. This is a somewhat higher midshelf price, but as Quinn mentioned, all of their plants are indoor-grown in soil, so this tends to affect the price point.
“Moby Dick” is a strong Sativa-Hybrid strain that originates from Amsterdam and is currently bred by Dinafem Seeds. This strain is a cross between Indica-dominant Hybrid, White Widow, and Sativa Haze.
Packaging ⭐ ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐
Though we’d usually like to see things products in jars, we had to make an exception for this amazing packaging. The artistic design of each Mylar package is unique, as each dragon displayed on the package respresents a different strain that Dragon High carries. This makes for a cannabis collection worthy of showing off.
The “Nose” ⭐⭐⭐⭐
When you sniff this flower you will pick up those sweet summery undertones. They are mild, but pleasant.
Trim Job ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Though the nugs are small on “Moby Dick”, they were still grown and trimmed with great care. It is apparent that the nug was hand-trimmed by a professional.
Nug Structure ⭐⭐⭐
The structure of this particular nug of “Moby Dick” is a little on the crumbly side. We feel that this probably has someting to do with the harvest date; it’s always a better review if the product is fresh.
Uh oh… So this we’re definitely looking a little rough on the dryess factor for Dragon High’s “Moby Dick”. This flower is becoming a bit of mess with the dry, powerdery pieces falling off while it’s handled by Quinn. Pro tip to folks with beards out there: check your beard for buds!
At first we were feeling the flavor of this flower… but after the sweetness subsided it all become a bit strange. Quinn initially describes this after taste as being “earthy”, but as it sets… he describes it as tasting like rubber. Specifically like the outside of a basketball. (Sounds like there’s a story there.) Perhaps a fresher batch would’ve helped this score!
Smoke Harshness ⭐⭐
Unfortunately the harshness of this strain is pretty rough, you can expect to feel a bit of a burn. From his throat to his lungs, this one was a hard-hitter. Again, we think this has a lot to do with the freshness of the flower.
The Effects ⭐⭐⭐
So there’s some mixed feelings on the effects of Dragon High’s “Moby Dick”. While Quinn does enjoy the “heady” high he’s experiencing and the sudden burst of energy… he also feels anxious, as though he needs to get up and do something. So if you’re looking for something to help you relax, or you are looking to avoid something that might get you a little paranoid, you might want to pass on this one.
Overall Score ⭐⭐
Let’s just say you can’t always judge a book by its cover. While the packaging is guaranteed to draw people in, it’s also suggesting a certain level of quality and sets expectations with that higher price point. “Moby Dick” by Dragon High might not be your white whale, but there are plenty of other fish in the sea.
Buy, Try, or Puff-Puff Pass?
When you consider the price point, the flavor and harhness, we’ve got to unfortunately call this one a Puff-Puff Pass.
